Collaborative Teaching
Co-Teaching and other in-class support options are becoming increasingly popular in this era of inclusive education. When implemented correctly, collaborative teaching can be a wonderfully rich and rewarding experience for professionals as well as an effective system of support for students in general education settings. However, when collaborative teaching is practiced without adequate planning, preparation, and support, it can lead to a frustrating experience for those very students it is designed to support.
This session will explore the top ten factors that impact the effectiveness of collaborative teaching efforts in school systems, including:
- Building a Vision;
- Building the Skills and Capacity for Collaborative Teaching;
- Incentives to Engage People in Collaborative Teaching; and
- Resources Needed for Successful Co-Teaching.
Implemented across ten states and adopted on a statewide basis in Florida and Connecticut, Step by Step training results in meaningful change at the district, school and classroom levels. Step by Step supports systemic change that benefits all students and the school community.
