Melinda Barnett

A Little About My Professional Career…

Dr. Melinda Barnett has over 26 years of experience in the field of education. She began her career as a secondary teacher and then served as an academic and career and technical counselor before earning her principal certificate. She then began working at an educational service center, first as a program coordinator for career and technical educators, and eventually as the director for the teacher certification program. Under her leadership, Dr. Barnett expanded the program by developing and launching a principal certification program. She has provided extensive training in teacher and administrative development. Dr. Barnett has served as an adjunct professor in Instructional Leadership Development and is currently serving on the advisory board for the College of Education at a university. Community support is important to Dr. Barnett, and she works with regional and local leadership organizations building leadership capacity in her community as well as identifying and developing youth leaders in local school districts. Dr. Barnett’s passion is providing service and support to educators who in turn provide services and support to our children.

When I’m Not Working…

Gardening, enjoying time with my grandchild, or relaxing in a pool when weather permits.
