A Little About My Professional Career...

Cindy Nelson has many years of experience working with students, teachers and school administrators. Her master’s degree and early teaching years focused on issues related to reading and language instruction in secondary schools. Following that, she taught and supervised instruction in mathematics in grades K-12.

Cindy has worked at Texas Regional Service Center IV and served several districts as coordinator of language arts, mathematics, and as Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She has developed a series of K-10 universal screeners for mathematics that both target students for intervention and provide prescriptive data to inform that instruction.

She has produced a series of Stetson Online courses focusing on key concepts at different grade levels designed for paraeducators who support students in math classes but who may not feel secure with content knowledge. Recently, she has worked with campuses to develop the coaching skills of lead collaborative partnerships who then coach their colleagues to sustain excellence in co-taught classes.
