A Little About My Professional Career...

I have dedicated my career to improving the effectiveness of organizations and leaders as they pursue equity and success for children and youth historically excluded from opportunities and denied access to educational, social services, and mental health support systems.

My organizational leadership and management skills have been developed over five decades as a direct service provider and administrator in a progression of settings and organizational levels.

In my various administrative positions, I have designed and managed numerous improvement and innovation initiatives that included K-22+ public programming for children and youth with significant disabilities, inclusive specialized services in general education settings, weighted student budgeting and service approaches, and diverse teams for planning, implementation, and problem-solving at the direct-service, management, and leadership levels in dozens of schools.

Over more than three decades as a consultant, I have founded and led local, regional, and national consulting groups focused on improving access and success for children and youth with significant challenges and disabilities.  In my consulting work, I developed specializations in organizational improvement, transformational professional development, multi-disciplinary and inter-organizational collaboration, and civil rights and disability rights in schools, and served as the lead evaluator of specialized settings and services, court appointed monitor and master for disciplinary and discriminatory practices in schools, and ombudsman for students with disabilities and their families in schools.

I am a careful and respectful listener and a collaborative problem solver. I understand deeply the needs and civil rights of persons in protected populations and the responsibilities of those who are charged with providing their services. My practice as a service provider and teacher, a manager and leader, a monitor and ombudsperson, and a consultant and advisor has been based on a foundation of diversity, equity, inclusion, and engagement, a commitment to evaluating effectiveness and efficiency in terms of progress toward proficiency, and an enduring belief in the value of diversity in abilities and potential.

When I'm Not Working...

I’m caring for our antique 1790’s home in downtown Portsmouth, NH, and our ski house in the White Mountains, and supporting our 13-year-old actor/dancer/singer son as he works his way into the interesting and demanding world of musical theater.

My Guilty Pleasure Is...

Eating fine food and sipping the best of cocktails in the great restaurants in our wonderful small city and everywhere we travel.

If I Could be Anywhere in the World Right Now, it Would be…

On a catamaran cruising from a beach on St. John to the Soggy Dollar on Yost Van Dyke.
